This spirit was distilled on 26.4.1995 and was matured in a refill hogshead. It is bottled at 48%.
Nose: It starts dry with notes of lemon and green Apples. A touch of seawater and a lot of malty aromas. There are also some grainy notes like oats and muesli. The alcohol is a bit stingy but not in an unpleasant way.
Palate: Lemon peel and a little bit grapefruit. Those malty notes again and more oak than I would have expected. The oak adds some lovely spicy notes like cloves and nutmeg.
Finish: The finish is medium long and there is both oak and grain going on. Coffee, Cloves and Bread.
A really nice whisky who brings more oak to the table than I expected. At 48% it's at an ideal drinking strength and I suspect that the alcohol would have been a bit unpleasant if it was at a higher ABV. I really liked this one and if you like solid, honest whisky at a reasonable price I think you will too.
